In 1920, Max Gottlieb Meinel founded MAXIMA in Markneukirchen, Germany, at a time when craftsmanship was a German pride. In the early 1950s, MAXIMA built a new factory in Gerritsried, Germany to produce monofilament nylon fishing lines. The state-of-the-art R&D and manufacturing facilities for the MAXIMA line are located in the Bavarian hills.
Using the most advanced technology, MAXIMA produces the highest quality fishing lines.
Dedication to quality, focus on customer satisfaction, superior engineering, and continuous product development are infused into every Maxima line. 2020 marks our 100th anniversary and anglers in over 70 countries around the world trust and use Maxima's premium products.

Although Maxima was spun off into a separate company, it continued to manufacture not only fishing lines but also the Optima brand, which is famous for strings for stringed instruments.
Optima strings are also popular among famous Japanese guitarists.
